My name is Alison Fox , I have been a practicing counsellor/psychotherapist and CBT practitioner for more than twenty years. Following a successful career in hospitality, marketing and training, I decided to train as a counsellor because I have always enjoyed listening and helping people, for my entire life people have found me approachable and easy to talk to. I am dedicated to learning new approaches and my most recent qualification is in EMDR. When I am not working, I enjoy lots of activities including travel, walking, photography, art and crafts and gardening to name a few.
I work with individuals over the age of 14, couples, families and groups. I am happy to take referrals directly from individuals or organisations. My passion is to share my knowledge, teach and help people to recover.
I have helped with many different types of issues which may affect physical and mental health including addictions, anxiety, bereavement, bullying/harassment, co-dependency, confusion, chronic health conditions, depression, domestic abuse, empty nest, family issues, generalized anxiety disorder, HIV/AIDS, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, loneliness, loss, marriage and relationship issues, panic attacks, stress management, sexual health, trauma and many more. I work integratively using a variety of approaches, including CBT & EMDR , offered in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I offer face to face appointments in Preston, Weymouth in Dorset along with working with clients worldwide via webcam, email and telephone. If you are unable to come to me for a face to face session, this could be a good alternative.

I am fully insured & an accredited member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy which means I have achieved a nationally recognised standard of qualifications and experience. You can verify this through the BACP Register my registration number is 146283 & BACP Membership 554716.
I hold a current DBS check.

This can vary, it is helpful to discuss in your first counselling session or give me a call, my experience and research have found that generally, 6 sessions is the minimum needed for effective change to take place. The average is 6-12 sessions, I always negotiate with clients about the number and duration of sessions and am able to work long term if needed.
You might find it helpful and more reassuring to call me and voice your concerns, also the first session should help you decide whether you are going to feel enabled to speak openly with me.
We will complete regular reviews of our work together, you will be the best judge of whether the process is achieving the results that you hope for.
I am also qualified as a clinical supervisor and trainer and offer individual or group sessions.
Alongside my counselling and clinical supervision practice I offer spiritual accompaniment, mentoring, life coaching, mediation, creative Mindfulness, mental health workshop and therapy retreats.
Face to face appointments are available at my purpose built premises in Preston, Weymouth, where there is plenty of parking and toilet facilities. Webcam, telephone and email appointments are available worldwide. If you are unable to come to me for a face-to-face session, this could be a good alternative.
I also offer outdoor therapy, when the weather allows in a dedicated outdoor terrace area, which allows privacy and the benefits of taking in the natural beauty of the local area.
